The permanent code is a unique identifying code assigned by the Ministère de l’Éducation to all students who attend an educational institution in Québec. It is an alphanumeric code composed of four letters and eight numbers.

If you have attended an educational establishment in Québec, you have a permanent code.

You may find it on:

  • transcripts issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation
  • diplomas issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation
  • other documents issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation
  • various documents issued by educational institutions (the code must be clearly identified as the code issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation otherwise, it could be the permanent code from the institution and not from the Ministère de l'Éducation

You must have a permanent code to make an application online. If you have attended an educational establishment in Québec, you have a permanent code. Generally, it can be found on any transcripts or diplomas issued by an educational establishment in Québec. Your previous educational institution can also provide it.
